Ok folks, going to give this another go, I am going to try and drum up funds for a new flag for next season, no sponsor and bigger but I am going to need to find substantial funding to do it. So do any of you out there know any bluenose who owns a business that would be willing to donate funds to produce a decent flag? I will start it of by donating £50 to the fund.

Admin can you pin?

Great stuff Bear... but what do you mean by "substantial funding"? Can you give us a ball park figure?

The reason I ask for a 'target' amount - we could have something like the 'thermometer' that you often see for the 'church roof fund'... It would act as a motivator and encourage donations as we work towards the target! I run a business... I'd be happy to match your £50 to help get the ball rolling **thumbup

Cheers for the fifty, the flag we have now cost around £800 so if we can get £1000 we could do something interesting. so if we are going on the donations so far we need another 18 people to donate £50 or 1 and half tickests to St Andrews. Not much when you look at it that way (cough)

By the way we could also run a design comp like last year if anyone is interested (I don't have time to do enter this though)

You could E-mail the club and ask them. After all, it is for the team really.

Actually Bear, perhaps emailing the club and asking for a list of corporate sponsors ?

Going through two years worth of progs and compiling a list of say 30-50 businesses and sending each one an identical e-mail.
Stipulating no sponsor on the flag, but a public acknowledgement (publicity) to every corporate sponsor.
Any firm or individual that coughs up £X amount gets a plug, the rest of us with our fivers do it for love.

Well done again Bear.

so whats the point in handing over our cash to you when you couldnt be bothered to bring it to the ground this year..by the way whats happened to this years flag - do you consider it to be your own property or is it going to be returned to the club in the hpe that someone else can get it out each home match

Its at the ground its just that none of you lot can be bothered to volunteer to do it. I have asked time and time again for someone to take it on as I find in hard to do it and look after the disabled fan I accompany.

Perhaps you would care to volunteer as your so concerned about it?

so why would it be different if it was a new flag that we have all financially contributed to?..it wouldnt be any easier for you to look after just because its a different flag would it? I think if we cant get the one we have organised whats the point in paying good money for another? and no thanks I wouldn't like to volunteer but I am sure I have seen a post on here from a steward who has said that the stewards would bring it out and see its collection at the end..cant find the post because the search facility is not working again

Bear took it upon himself to bring it to a fair few games (which unfortunately we tended to lose) and put in one hell of a lot of effort to get it sorted first time round so I think you should apologise for those uncalled for remarks.

He's had a huge Flybe advert taking up enough house-space to justify rent, has received several personal pops about the how big the 'Flybe' part was compared to how small the flag and he still wants to do more.

Good idea Bear - a bigger flag that belongs to the fans that will last from season to season so no sponsors, just Blues! Put me down for a tenner (pm me your paypal and I'll send it to you) - know it's not much but it all counts eh?

Good work fella **thumbup

To be fair to the bear, not many people have requested him to bring it and when they do, they normally say 'oh forgett it' or something in their posts.

And if he is looking after a Disabled fan, perhaps someone else should volunteer to do it. But I mean, at least the bear is offering to organise such a thing, I don't see anyone else posting about making a giant flag.

How about sending a letter to the club asking if you can have the funds for a new flag out of the coke fund, its on around 2/3 thousand at the moment so it is not really going to buy us a player, or pay any of the first team wages so if it was spend on a flag it would be something the fans could see and know where the money went.

so I think you should apologise for those uncalled for remarks.

which remarks are uncalled for - I havent made any 'remarks' I have just questioned the point of organising another flag when the one we have is not used..it wont make any difference to the Bears situation by us paying for a new flag will it? if its a new one or the old one and no one bothers to bring it then whats the point?

So don't just moan do something positive volunteer to get the flag out for a couple of games.....

If we had 10 or 12 people who did it on a rota it would not be so much of a problem would it...

So are you prepared to volunteer????

You said that Bear 'couldn't be bothered' to bring it which wasn't true and you implied that he considered it to be his own property as he'd organised it last time.

What you said was untrue and rude in the extreme but if you don't feel you should apologise for a personal snipe at a fellow member trying to do something for the supporters then that just about sums you up.
